Support & Housing — Halton

"Apprentice in the Park" Toronto

The purpose of Support & Housing – Halton is to provide community-based housing, programs and support services for persons living with mental illness.  A strong core value for SHH is acknowledging the individual’s right to self-determination and access to inclusive, equitable services that empower them to reach their highest potential.

CRG has come to know the staff at SHH over the past few years and have identified them as one of our community service partner organizations.  Rarely have we worked with a group of professionals that are more dedicated, passionate and committed to their work and their community.  Because community groups always face funding challenges, we were delighted to offer them special arrangements so that they can obtain high-end team building services that might otherwise be out of their budget range.

We asked “As a result of “Beyond Apprentice” what became clear to you about the importance of team building?” They said:

We all need to be on the same page before we can get into smaller groups. Everyone must be engaged. Everyone needs to communicate and be heard. Each individual should be valued.

Give up personal control. Collaboration & respect are key to accomplishing goals successfully = need team work. It’s constructive and fun to work as a team.

You need to really hear what is being said.  You need to constantly communicate to be able to work together.
