During our team building work with client
organizations, we've compiled a collection of barriers that we see creating enormous stress for individuals,
blocking performance in teams, and robbing organizations of productivity.
Each issue, one of these barriers will be
addressed in our newsletter. We'll include some suggestions for breakthrough thinking to give you ideas
for how you might begin busting
through these barriers.

EMBRACE CHANGE
… AND WATCH YOUR CAREER GROW
The one thing you can count on
today is constant change. Don’t regard change as a top-down
process forced on you by upper echelons.
The managers of an organization can try to effect all the change in the world, but it
won’t happen until you agree to make it happen.
You can’t emulate King Canute and try to hold back the changes sweeping the work world.
So, why not think of yourself as an agent of change. The choice is yours: embrace change, or be engulfed by it.
No one is suggesting that every new wrinkle at the office is a good
thing. However - if you disagree- take responsibility; don’t grumble. Come right out and identify
the problem … and propose a solution.
You are paid to do more than just perform within the narrow confines of your
job. As an
employee, you are part of a community.
When something is wrong in your community, you don’t bury your
head. You
come up with workable alternatives.
Typically, employers reward heads-up people who identify a problem and are prepared to
recommend solutions. In other words, when you play your part in the life of the organization and the changes it
faces, you are also safeguarding your career.
